British Military Fitness

When I say to people that I go to British Military Fitness (BMF) they instantly look horrified! I think it’s the fact that the words Military and Fitness are in the same sentence that scares them.  I’ve been going to BMF for a year now and it has flown by.  I have to say I LOVE it.
BMF runs all year and in all weathers, it really is a year round outdoor class!  At BMF Nottingham there are 6 classes a week plus a running club session every Monday.  The classes are set in three locations, Wollaton Park, Forest recreation and the Embankment.  Across the country there are over 100 different BMF venues, they truly are number one for outdoor fitness.
One thing that I like most about BMF is the welcome feeling you get every time you turn up, it’s like one big group of friends working out and having a great time.  The instructors are so friendly and really do know what they are doing.  They give you the confidence to push harder and work to the best of your ability.

Each class is completely unique and tailored to all different fitness levels.   In the words of the wonderful Dan (Park Manager) you have the beautiful blues, red devils and the greens! The blue group is for beginners and those who class themselves as unfit, the reds are the next level up and then the greens are the real fitties of the bunch.  I am currently a blue but tend to do the red exercises and the blue running as I am defiantly not made for running!!!  I am hoping once my running skills improve I can move up into the red group.
The classes are a mixture of exercises be it alone, with a partner or as a team. They aim to build strength, agility and stamina.  You could find yourself doing sit ups and squats one minute and then sprints and burpees the next! We also play lots of different games from bulldog to duck duck goose!  It’s not  just exercises its fun and games too. The classes last for an hour and in all types of weather but trust me it flies by.

So you see it really doesn’t matter what level of fitness you are or even if you are completely unfit these classes really are for everyone! Plus the added bonus is you get to try before you buy!  Your first lesson is completely free and then from there they have a range of payment plans to suit everyone! Check it out at www.britmilfit.com, go on you know you want to!

Pretty Fit For a Fat Bird

Over the years I have put on weight, lost weight and put it back on again! I started exercising about 5 years ago, swimming twice a week and then a gym session here and there.  Shortly after I had left home to live in my first home with my husband I put on a lot of weight and then decided something had to be done!  I joined a reputable fat club and also the gym.  I got heavily into the gym, going up to six times a week and I loved it.  I lost just over three stone and was so happy, and then I fell pregnant and gained a massive four stone.
Since having Izabelle I have been diagnosed with an under active thyroid and find it so hard to lose weight.  The one thing I continue to love though is exercise!  Whilst Izabelle was younger I found it hard to get to the gym especially as the hubby is away a lot for work but now she is at preschool I am getting the bug again and love that I am able to go the gym on a daily basis.
Currently I attend circuit class on a Monday and Wednesday lunchtime and British Military Fitness classes three times a week; I also go to the gym on a Friday morning.  I love exercising and I love the feeling of achievement I get once I have finished a session.  My fitness levels are growing with every session that I attend and I love seeing the improvements and hearing the compliments that I get from others that attend the classes.
Alongside all the fitness classes I attend I’ve also started joined my local Slimming World club (Fat Club).  I’ve currently lost 7lbs in total and I am aiming for around 2 stone by September! Weigh in day is every Tuesday!
So as you can see I have the exercise bug and I LOVE it!  It really is true what they say you don’t have to be skinny to be fit!!!

HELLO

Welcome to the wonderful world of me!  My name is Samantha AKA Mummy; I have a beautiful little girl and 2 wonderful dogs!  This blog is all about our crazy lives! I’ve been told I am extremely opinionated so I thought I would start to write down my opinions for people to see!
Meet Izabelle

Izabelle is 3 years old but if you ask her how old she is, she will tell you she is 30! Trust me you don’t want to fight her on that.  Izabelle is cheeky and extremely confident, a great mix for a 3 year old.  She is also inquisitive and full of fun.  She keeps me and her daddy on our toes.
Meet Sky

Sky is almost 4 years old and is one of the most loving, soft and gentle dogs you will ever meet.  She’s not the crazy boxer you would expect her to be, she is a sensitive soul and loves nothing more than walks and hugs with John (My Hubby). Sky is also a mummy, Vespa is her daughter and the bond between them is magical!
Meet Vespa

Vespa is 18 months old and is a bundle of trouble! Unlike her mummy Vespa is your typical crazy bouncing boxer.  Although Vespa comes across as a crazy puppy she is also extremely loving and surprisingly intelligent. She has already mastered how to open all of the doors in the house!
